Artist's Comments

I took this one of Truro Cathedral because I found the texture of the intricate stonework interesting. I've removed the colour because it was an unnecessary distraction. As far as cathedrals go, this one's quite new with the Victorians reviving old classic Gothic styling.

I'll say it has a gothic feel to it. That was a good angle to take it from. You should check out some of my black & whites.

Thanks. I don't do nearly enough black and white stuff. I like your one of the hot dog vendor in NYC. OK, so I'm a big fan of Manhattan but the texture and contrast gives your picture a real 'punchy' feel.

Great perspective shot. An excellent use of black and white too.

Thank you. Going back to Paris, I visited Notre Dame de Paris (Notre Dame Cathedral), the setting of Victor Hug's classic. I took some photos but I wish I'd done some close-ups of the stonework as I did with this one; Notre Dame is real Gothic and the carvings around the door and below the 'rose' are amazing whereas at Truro Cathedral (as you can see in this shot), the elaborate, ornate stonework quickly gives way to boring blockwork as you move away from the door.

But yeah, yay! for more B & W work me thinks.
